Hello friends,

Sorry for the dry period.   Nothing much happens during ‘Lockdown’, but hopefully things are starting to happen now.

One of our residents was confirmed as having caught the virus on Saturday (Fortunately a mild attack) so every single resident was swab tested on Monday, and every single resident had a negative result.   How’s that for organisation?

I tell people that I am the luckiest guy in the world, and once again I have cause to.   I was lucky to be chosen by the National Office of Statistics to take part in their nationwide survey.   That meant that I have been ‘Swab tested’ for the  Virus every month since the start of the pandemic.   Every month the result came back ‘Negative’.   However last month I also agreed to have a blood test as well.  – On Friday a letter came telling me that the Swab test was Negative and on Saturday I had a letter telling me that the Blood test was Positive!   I had contracted the disease somewhere between tests without knowing and suffering any visible side effects.   How much luckier can one be?  That meant that not only had I the two vaccinations to kill the infection but my body had produced antibodies to fight future infections as well.   Mind you, after living 14 years in Africa I have always said that it must have given my immune system a boost.

Good news too about possibly getting back to normal.   It  will be good to have a get-together again of all the OPHF4YO’s participants.   Sadly it will be without Sylvia, Lavinia and Margaret who are now no doubt smiling down at us from above.   The meetings in Lark Hill may be somewhere off because it obviously involves Children, but we will explore the possibilities of us residents being able to visit the Creches.   My aim is to give other Residents the chance who were disappointed not to be chosen in the original team.

It is over 18 months since I saw Lily Bob-Tail except on Facebook, but the good news is that she is doing well at school and in particular out-of-school activities as well, such as  Dancing.  The team get-togethers may be some way off, but we already have private meeting on the itinerary.   It will be good to see Lily’s Family once again.   We met several times and got on so well together.   More photo’s will be on the way once my mobile is up-dated.   I’m afraid I’ve been a bit of a troglodyte as far as modern technology is concerned, but Nikky is insisting on an update.  (I hope I can understand it!).

Additional note from Nikky – yes Dad’s current mobile is not fit for purpose, a very basic small samsung with battery problems, and not many features due to its lack of memory and speed, so I have bought a new iPhone and will give him mine as soon as I go and visit him, although I fear a whole day of tuition will not be enough! However, as it is identical to my new one I should be able to offer telephone support!!!

Also as there are no photos for this post, I found a couple …. a before and after trip to the barbers in April ….

…and also a trip I made on 2nd June to take him out for the day for a picnic!!

Best wishes to all, and more when I have something exciting to report on!!! Love Ken xx
